A government grant for a fresh start

Two years ago, when my husband died, I did not just lose my life partner and my best friend. I found myself incapable of providing for my children considering that I was a housewife with no education and no skills. I had no idea what to do and saying that I was terrified and stressed out would be an understatement.

I was sick and tired of everybody telling me that everything happens for a reason and that some good will come out of it all. I sincerely felt like my life was over, but at the same time, I did not want my children to feel that way. They are the only reason why I decided not to give up.

A friend of mine told me that I might be eligible for a government grant and that I should apply for it. I had no idea what it was all about, which is why I turned to the local government where they explained to me that I could get some financial help. Surprisingly, there was more than one possibility and more types of government grants. After careful consideration, I eventually applied for an unemployment training program.

I always admired women who worked and raised children at the same time and there was no reason why I couldn`t succeed in doing the same thing. The application procedure was not easy, but fortunately, there were some really nice people who helped me and although I thanked them, they will probably never realize how grateful I am.

After some time, I finally got great news and I couldn`t wait to start learning again. The next year or so was challenging especially because I had to be very careful not to neglect the needs of my kids. Fortunately, they were all very supportive, except for the little one who had no idea what was going on, but the older ones made sure that she did not notice that things have changed drastically.

And here I am now, a working mom who is doing her best to find that perfect balance between work and taking care of her kids. I never thought that I was cut out for it but as it turns out, we all are. For all moms that are in a similar situation, do not give up! Instead, get informed about government grants.
